Health Determinants can decisively affect a patient's overall health and well-being. Health Determinants include barriers, symptoms and functional status. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) recommends capturing social and behavioral determinants in Electronic Medical Records. CDC defines Determinants of health as factors that contribute to a person's current state of health.
